I see quite a few of these Heritage Spe...Congrats! I see quite a few of these Heritage Specials still buzzing around. They seem to be very reliable bikes. Once I worked through the carb sync issues, my '83 took me everywhere I wanted to go. True, you won't win any races, but the last thing a rider needs in a rainy climate is more power. Overstocks, etc.<br /><br />A half or 3/4 helmet is nice for daily practicality & ease of storage. From experience, a full face shield is a must for riding in rain. Leather is overrated: good waterproof textiles are the way to go. Opinions are divided on cheap vs. expensive gear, but I've had great success with my cheap gear. Good brands are TourMaster, Cortech, Scorpion, Fulmer.
